Winston-Salem Symphony opens its season with Gershwin, Rachmaninoff & Trane
The Winston-Salem Symphony opens its season the weekend of Sep 26 and Sep 27 with Gershwin, Rachmaninoff, & Trane — a program that honors High Point native John Coltrane during the centennial of his birth.
Saxophonist Robert Young joins the orchestra for the season-opening weekend, with Michelle Merrill conducting. The symphony notes that the opener coincides with the centennial celebration of the High Point native, tying the classical program to the month-long centennial programming across the Triad.
The pair of concerts runs Saturday, Sep 26 and Sunday, Sep 27.
Listing comes from the September 7 harvest of the Winston-Salem Symphony events calendar (wssymphony.org).
