Wake Forest: Day of the Dead and coin history exhibits open
Two new exhibits start Wednesday, Sep 16 on the Wake Forest events calendar.
The Lam Museum of Anthropology opens its annual Day of the Dead exhibit, Life after Death: Celebrating Day of the Dead. The exhibit examines Día de Muertos, the festive time when families remember their dead and honor the continuity of life. The celebration has roots in ancient pre-Hispanic traditions and in medieval Spanish Catholic practice, and it has evolved to blend elements of both.
A second exhibit, Pocket Change: A Story of Coins through Time, traces coin history across more than two millennia. It showcases more than six dozen coins focused on East Asia and the Mediterranean. Each coin is both an artifact and a historical document, letting visitors trace the evolution of money from raw metals to standardized modern currency.
