This Week in the Triad: Sept 1–7, 2026

The first week of September 2026 is dense across all three Triad anchors, with a packed Friday-through-Sunday run from Sept 4 through Sept 6.

Greensboro's Coliseum hosts Latin pop star Chayanne on Friday, Sept 4, a marquee arena date on the city's fall concert calendar. The same evening, High Point welcomes Carolina Core FC as the soccer club faces New England II.

The Coltrane JazzFest weekend takes shape in High Point around the same dates: the Coltrane JazzFest Golf Experience tees off Sept 4, and the John Coltrane Hometown History Tour — an African American Heritage Trail experience presented with the High Point Museum — runs Sept 5 in conjunction with the festival.

New businesses and collectors' events round out the weekend. PUSHBREW Coffee celebrates its grand opening Sept 5 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM inside DeMaj Poetry Lounge at 805 N Main Street in High Point. Winston-Salem hosts the Winston-Salem Card Show at Truist Stadium on Sept 5, covering Pokemon, sports, and more. Körner's Folly in Kernersville pairs a Taste of History: Revolution in the Piedmont program with CJ Idol on Sept 5.

Winston-Salem's craft scene is active through the week: Taste of Art: Silk Scarf Dyeing at Sawtooth School (Sept 4), Fiddlin' Fish Brewing Co. and Crane & Co returning to Joymongers Barrel Hall (Sept 4), and O.Henry Cocktails & Jazz with Vaughan Penn and Noah Powell at the O.Henry Hotel lobby (Sept 3, 6–9 PM). Music Carolina SummerFest closes the window Sept 6 with a family-friendly chamber performance of Peter and the Wolf at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville.

Municipal life continues as the Town of Kernersville Board of Aldermen holds its regular meeting Sept 1.
